Tarot card reading

My readings always begin with a tarot spread.

Without overthinking it, choose 4 cards out of these 22:

The order in which you turn them over matters: I read each card in the place you give it.

Your First Psychic Reading: What to Really Expect

You have been thinking about it for a while. You opened the page, closed it, came back to it. What holds you back is almost never the subject itself, but everything around it.

Here is what a first reading really looks like, and the five hesitations that most often hold people back, cleared up one by one.

Hesitation 1: "I'm afraid of being taken for someone gullible"

It is the number one hesitation, and it rests on a false idea.

Most people who seek readings are clear headed, often very rational, and come with a precise question. They are not trying to believe, they are trying to step back from a situation that has been on their mind for weeks.

Nobody on the other side will judge you: this is the practitioner's everyday work, and your request is nothing unusual. Besides, you are under no obligation to buy into anything for an exchange to be useful to you.

Hesitation 2: "I won't know what to say"

You do not have to make conversation.

Three prepared questions are more than enough. If you stay silent at the start, the person on the other side will know how to get things going: it is their job.

Silences are normal, including on the phone. A practitioner who goes quiet for thirty seconds is working, not improvising.

To arrive at ease, prepare your questions in advance: a simple list of three points is enough.

Hesitation 3: "I'm afraid of hearing something unpleasant"

An honest practice never dramatizes and never announces disasters.

It does not deal with health, death, legal proceedings or investment questions. These areas belong to qualified professionals, and a serious practitioner will refer you to them.

If a subject particularly worries you, say so from the start. It will be set aside, no discussion.

What you may hear, on the other hand, is something that does not suit you. A good session is not always pleasant in the moment, and that is often the sign it was useful.

Hesitation 4: "It's expensive for what it is"

It is an advisory service, billed for time spent and experience, like many others.

Set your budget beforehand, choose a format with an announced price rather than an uncapped per minute rate, and you will know exactly what you are spending. Look into the usual durations and prices for each format: the orders of magnitude are easy to find.

Hesitation 5: "What if I end up with someone dishonest?"

It is a real risk, and it shrinks with a few minutes of checking.

A price announced in advance. Excluded subjects clearly stated. No promise of results or dates. No paid service offered during the session.

These four landmarks rule out most bad surprises, and the landmarks that set a reliable practitioner apart detail each of them.

What will concretely happen

The session begins with a few minutes of framing: duration, price, process. You are asked for your first name, possibly your date of birth. Nothing more.

You then explain what brings you, and then comes the actual work: spread, calculation, reading, with back and forth. You can react, say it does not resonate with you, ask for a clarification. To better grasp the logic of combinations, understanding card combinations in a spread sheds light on how the cards talk to each other.

The session ends with a summary and a clean close, with no follow up pitch or extra offer.

How a reading unfolds step by step details each of these phases and the time to devote to them.

What to plan for

A quiet moment, when nobody disturbs you and you are neither exhausted nor shaken.

Something to take notes with. It is the most worthwhile advice on this page: the next day, you will remember only one sentence, rarely the most important. Memory rearranges the exchange within hours, and taking notes in the moment preserves the essentials.

What will not happen

You will not be told your future in the form of a calendar. You will be given no date, no amount, no guarantee.

You will not be told what to do. A good session hands you back your own decision, and the phrases you should hear are "what do you think", "what does that bring to mind for you", "you're the one who will decide".

And if it does not suit you

You can stop at any time, without justification. One sentence is enough, and how to stop a reading midway gives several, ready made.

If the exchange simply turned out to be disappointing without being problematic, that is common for a first time and it can be fixed: the cause is almost always a question that was too vague, or an expectation of a prediction where you receive insight.

The right state of mind

You are not buying certainty. You are giving yourself thirty minutes to lay out a situation that has been going around in circles for weeks.

Many people come out saying the same thing: they did not learn what was going to happen, they recovered their ability to choose. For the complete framework, how a remote reading works covers the whole process.
