Questions to Ask Before Booking a Psychic Reading
Fifteen minutes of checking before you book will spare you most bad surprises. It is an unbeatable ratio.
These questions should be asked in writing, before any commitment and before any payment. A serious person answers them willingly and quickly.

Question 1: what is your price, and for how long?
It is the basic question, and the one people do not dare to ask.
What you should get: an amount, a duration, and a mention of any possible extra charges. Three lines are enough.
What should make you back away: an evasive answer, an "it depends on what comes up", an uncapped per minute rate, or an amount communicated only after the session.
A flat fee for a defined duration lets you think calmly during the exchange, which greatly changes the quality of what you will get out of it.
Question 2: which subjects do you not cover?
It is the most revealing of the three questions, and almost nobody asks it.
What you should hear: an immediate and precise answer. Health and illness, death, legal proceedings, investments and financial decisions. Possibly others, depending on the person.
What should alarm you: "I can cover anything". That answer gives you crucial information in five words.
A practitioner who knows the limits of their practice and states them spontaneously is infinitely more reliable than a practitioner who claims to be competent on everything.
Question 3: how does a session unfold?
It tells you about the professionalism of the framework.
What you should get: the method used, the process, whether you can ask questions along the way, what you will be asked for at the start.
That last detail matters. Your first name and possibly your date of birth are enough for most approaches. An insistent request for information about your family, your assets or your income has no technical justification.
The answer will also tell you the method on offer. Knowing what the titles of psychic, medium or card reader really cover will help you know what to expect, just as understanding card combinations in a spread will let you follow the thread of the interpretation better.
The three complementary questions
If the first three answers suit you, three clarifications are worth asking for.
"Can I stop the session if I want to?" The answer must be yes, unconditionally. It is your right, and you owe no justification.
"What do you keep from our exchange, and for how long?" A clear answer takes ten seconds to give.
"Do you offer additional services during the session?" The expected answer is no. Any other answer deserves close scrutiny.
What not to ask
A useful clarification, because some questions work against you.
Do not ask for a free preview. "Just tell me one thing about myself to see" puts the exchange on the wrong footing from the outset, that of demonstration rather than guidance.
Do not send your real question in writing beforehand. Keep it for the session, where it can be worked on.
Do not ask for a guarantee. None can be given, and anyone who offered one would immediately disqualify themselves.
Reading the answers
Beyond the content, observe the form.
A quick, precise, point by point answer: a good sign.
A generic, obviously automated answer: the framework is industrial, expect a standardized exchange.
An answer that starts by telling you something about yourself when you have not asked anything: a clear warning sign. A serious approach never starts this way.
An insistence on how few slots are available: artificial urgency, a classic commercial mechanism.
These observations are all clues that can show up from the very first exchange and help you assess how reliable the person is.

The format, to clarify too
If the reading takes place remotely, specify the channel: live writing, delayed writing, phone. Each produces a different experience and a different relationship with time.
Some people feel much freer in writing, others need a voice. Choosing between chat, writing and phone before booking avoids a disappointment due to the format rather than the person.
These clarifications take on their full meaning when you know what a well run session looks like, and how a remote reading unfolds step by step gives the reference framework.
If the answers do not come
No answer is an answer. A practitioner who does not take three minutes to answer three simple questions before a paid appointment will not take more time during the session.
Move on without chasing them. There are enough serious practitioners not to insist with someone who does not answer you.
Even before booking, you can clarify your question with a free three card spread, past, present and future: if the reading remains vague, the question often deserves to be rephrased.
If you are considering a written reading, these questions mainly concern price and turnaround: our article on psychic readings by email, reviews, turnaround and prices gives the useful landmarks.
How long it takes
A five line message, an answer expected within twenty four to forty eight hours, a decision in a few minutes.
A quarter of an hour in total, to rule out most difficulties. For the complete list of criteria to check, the landmarks that set a reliable practitioner apart are the reference to keep at hand.
