Tarot card reading

My readings always begin with a tarot spread.

Without overthinking it, choose 4 cards out of these 22:

0 cards selected

The order in which you turn them over matters: I read each card in the place you give it.

Psychic, Medium, Card Reader: Who Really Does What

The titles circulate and get mixed up. None is protected, none corresponds to recognized training, and everyone sets up under whatever title they choose.

That does not make them useless: they tell you about the method on offer, which is usable information. Here is what each term covers.

Let's go

A spread, your message, my reading: enough to see more clearly.

The card reader

They read a deck of cards, tarot or oracle. Their practice relies on interpreting a learned, structured symbolic system that can be taught and passed on.

It is a technical skill: it takes years of practice and can be checked through the coherence of the reading. The structure of a deck and how its families of cards are organized form the foundation of this work, and a serious card reader can explain their method.

The astrologer

They work from calculations: planetary positions, birth chart, transits, comparisons between two charts.

It is the most technical practice of all. It depends on no special ability and requires lengthy learning. An astrologer will ask for your time and place of birth, which is a good indicator of seriousness.

The numerologist

Same logic, from a date of birth and a name. Everything can be calculated and checked, including by you.

The dowser

They work with a pendulum or rods, usually on closed questions or searches.

Practitioners without a tool

A personal reading, written for you and for no one else.

The medium

They say they perceive information through a sensitive channel, without any technical tool. It is the hardest category to evaluate from the outside, since it relies on no teachable method.

That does not mean it should be ruled out. It means the evaluation criteria lie entirely elsewhere: in the quality of listening, the clarity of the framework, the absence of promises.

The psychic

It is the broadest term, often used generically. Many practitioners combine several approaches and present themselves this way.

What these titles do not tell you

They guarantee no competence. None is protected, none corresponds to a diploma.

They rank nothing. A good card reader is worth more than a sloppy medium, and vice versa. The method on offer has nothing to do with the quality of the guidance.

They say nothing about whether limits are respected. An astrologer can very well overstep the bounds of their practice, and a medium can very well stay scrupulously within them.

How to choose according to your question

The title becomes useful when you relate it to the type of request.

A closed, practical question is handled well with a binary tool.

A confusing, multi layered situation calls for a rich tool, a structured deck for example.

A question about how you function at a deeper level is better handled with a calculated approach, which describes stable ground rather than a snapshot. For questions about a career change or your finances, it helps to prepare precise questions. The right questions to ask about career change and finances help you focus on the essentials.

A need to talk to someone is first and foremost a matter of the quality of listening, whatever the method.

This logic of matching question and tool is the same one that governs choosing a tool when you practice yourself, and comparing divination tools and what each one allows gives the same landmarks. If you want to develop your own sensitivity to the cards, developing your intuition with tarot: practical advice walks you through it step by step.

Whatever the title, the same abuses are found, and the pricing landmarks remain valid: the landmarks that distinguish a normal price from one that should alarm you apply identically to all methods.

The real selection criteria

Since the title guarantees nothing, what should you base your choice on?

A clear framework. Price, duration and process announced in advance.

The subjects declined. A serious practitioner will tell you what they do not cover: health, death, legal proceedings, financial investments. That refusal is an excellent sign.

No promises. No guaranteed result, no date, no amount.

The ability to be contradicted. If you say "that doesn't resonate with me", they adjust. Someone who insists is working for themselves.

Sending you back to your decision. "What do you think" rather than "you must do this".

The landmarks that set a reliable practitioner apart develop each of these points.

If this is your first time, what to really expect from a first reading clears up most worries, whatever the title of the practitioner you choose.

The question to ask

A single one is enough to see clearly: "how do you work?"

A serious practitioner will answer precisely: with which tool, using which method, how the exchange unfolds, what they cover and what they do not.

A vague or grandiloquent answer tells you as much as a precise one. It is one of the basic questions to ask before any commitment, and the questions to ask before booking a reading give the complete list.

A word about grand titles

You will come across more spectacular titles: grand master, hereditary gift, recognized specialist.

These phrases correspond to nothing verifiable. They are commercial positioning, and their presence is not a sign of a scam in itself, but it brings no useful information.

What informs you are concrete answers to the three basic questions: how much, how long, and which subjects are excluded.

In summary

Titles describe a method, never a competence or a guarantee. Choose based on the framework, the stated limits and the quality of the exchange, not on the label.
