Psychic Reviews and Testimonials: How to Read Them Without Being Naive

Reviews are often the only element you have before choosing someone. They are useful, provided you know what you are looking for, because the natural reflex leads you to look at exactly the wrong criterion.

Let's go

A spread, your message, my reading: enough to see more clearly.

The criterion not to look at

A review reporting a prediction that came true is worth nothing. Three reasons.

It cannot be verified. Nobody can confirm what was said or what happened.

It is selected by nature. People write when it happened, not when it did not. Testimonials about failed predictions practically do not exist, which completely skews the apparent statistics.

It steers you toward the wrong expectation. What you need to evaluate is the quality of the guidance, not a success rate that means nothing. No honest practice claims predictive accuracy anyway. To better understand this distinction, the difference between a predictive spread and an introspective spread sheds light on why guidance matters more than announcements.

What really has value

Reviews that describe how the exchange went.

"She took her time", "he asked me questions", "he was clear about what he did not cover", "I didn't feel judged", "the announced price was respected".

These elements can be verified through the experience of the person writing, and they describe exactly what makes a reading good.

Also look for nuanced reviews. "It was useful but I expected something else" is worth infinitely more than unreserved enthusiasm, because it shows a person who has thought about their experience.

And favor reviews that are older and spread out over time. A consistent practice over several years says more than a recent wave.

Another indicator of seriousness is the practitioner's ability to explain the logic of their spread. Understanding card combinations in a spread lets you check whether the interpretation is coherent or simply general.

The signs that should make you back away

An avalanche of reviews over a short period. All enthusiastic, all built the same way, no reservations.

Identical vocabulary from one review to the next. The same phrases, the same turns of speech.

Testimonials that mention amounts or dates. "He had announced a payment in March": this kind of testimonial signals a practitioner who makes announcements with figures, which is precisely what a serious professional never does.

A complete absence of mixed reviews. No human activity produces unanimous satisfaction.

These observations overlap with the warning signs of a scam: the same promises that alarm you in a direct exchange often appear in the testimonials put forward.

The bias that explains enthusiastic reviews

It is worth knowing, because it involves no dishonesty.

Very general statements always ring true. Telling someone they have been through a difficult period and doubt their choices works on practically everyone.

Then you remember the accurate parts and forget the rest. A session that contained ten statements of which three were accurate leaves the memory of remarkable precision.

This mechanism is universal and it affects perfectly clear headed people. The enthusiastic reviews it produces are sincere, which makes them all the less informative.

What reviews will never tell you

Whether the person will suit you. The quality of an exchange depends a lot on the fit between two people.

Whether the format suits you. A practitioner who is excellent on the phone may leave you cold in writing. That question is settled separately, and it is useful to work out which format suits you before even choosing someone.

Whether the distance is a problem for you. Reviews never address this question, yet it puts many people off. Whether a remote reading is less reliable than an in person one answers it directly.

Whether limits are respected. No review mentions the subjects a practitioner refuses to cover, yet it is one of the best indicators of seriousness.

One last point rarely mentioned in testimonials: how the session is concretely organized. How a remote reading unfolds step by step will give you a point of comparison that reviews almost never provide.

What is worth more than all the reviews

Three questions asked directly, in writing, before booking.

What the price is and for how long. Which subjects are not covered. How the session unfolds.

The answers, and the way they are phrased, will tell you more than fifty testimonials. The questions to ask before booking a reading detail what you should hear and what should alarm you.

Writing a useful review

If you want to leave one, a few landmarks so that it really helps.

Describe the framework: duration announced and respected, price as stated, how it unfolded. Describe the quality of listening. Mention what the practitioner refused to address, it is valuable information for the next people.

Avoid reporting predictions, even ones that came true. You would steer readers toward the wrong criterion.

And if you were disappointed, distinguish what comes from a poorly calibrated expectation on your side and what comes from a real problem. That nuance makes a negative review much more credible.

If you consult in writing, the quality of the answer also depends on your message. Our article on how to write your question to a psychic by email will help you.

In summary

Read about the process, not the results. Be wary of unanimity. Prefer three direct answers to fifty testimonials.

For all the criteria to check before choosing someone, the landmarks that set a reliable practitioner apart remain the foundation to keep in mind.
